Byte

In computing, a byte is a unit used to measure data storage, generally considered to hold eight bits.

The byte unit can be prefixed as so.
  • 1000 bytes = 1 kB (kilobyte, 103 byte)
  • 1000 kB = 1 MB (megayte, 106 byte)
  • 1000 MB = 1 GB (gigabyte, 109 byte)
  • 1000 GB = 1 TB (terabyte, 1012 byte)

Little more about bits & Bytes

                   8 bits = 1 byte
                   4 bits = 1 nibble
1 bit = smallest unit of storage in computer memory
